This season’s Senior & Youth Presentation evening was held in the clubhouse on Friday 30th May. Mr. Allan Evans Club Secretary hosted the awards and he started by welcoming everyone to the Presentation including the main guest’s for the evening, Club President Mr. Danny Egan and former Wales, Bath & Scarlet’s back row player Nathan Thomas.
He then went on to announce the Youth XV and First XV statistics for the season. The Youth XV finishing 3rd in the league, with the same number of points as Blackwood Youth who had the better point’s difference. In addition the Youth came runners up in the recent Blackwood 7’s competition.
The Youth’s top point’s scorer’s was Jordan Clash with 152 point’s, he was also top try scorer with 16 tries. Other top try scorers were Macaulay Dimmick & Kris Wheeler with13 tries each. No less than six Youth players have played senior rugby for the First XV this season.
The First XV finished 8th in a very competitive Division Two East which could have been so different considering the number of games lost during the final couple of minutes of their games.
Top point’s scorer’s was Geraint Conlon with 84 points closely followed by Scott Turner on 81 points. Jeremy Parsons was top try scorer with 11 tries. Lloyd Summer, Mark Thomas, Simon Veall and Adam Johnston all scored 6 tries apiece.
Lloyd Summers and Gareth Watkins played in 24 games throughout the season with Paul Muller, Simon Veall, Geraint Conlon & Jordan March all playing 23 games each.
The Club President Danny Egan then took the microphone to thank the club sponsor’s for their continued support over the season. He then went on to thank the Club’s Coaching staff of Gareth Johnston, Mathew J Watkins and Paul Muller for the First XV and Mark Dimmick & David Thomas of the Youth XV.
The final speech of the evening then went to the Club’s Head Coach Gareth Johnston who thanked all the players, committee and supporters for their efforts this season.

Following the awards former Wales player’s back row forward Nathan Thomas & centre Mathew J Watkins, took the floor for an impromptu question & answer session which slowly became the highlight of the evening.
The secretary concluded the evening’s speeches by thanking everyone for their attendance and support over the past season.
