New coaches and a thank you message

The club are pleased to announce the arrival of new coaches, Matthew Back and Gwyn Morris, who will lead the seniors for the remainder of the 2014/2015 season.

Matthew Back comes on board as backs coach whilst Gwyn moves up from the Youth after having some great success with the Youngsters both at Fleur De Lys and Bargoed Youth.

Matthew played for Pontypridd, Swansea, Bridgend and Aberavon, making a name for himself as a strong running full back eager to attack from deep positions.

He was capped during the 1995 Five Nations Championship, he came on to the field as a replacement for Wales against France and England and then gained full international status against Scotland and Ireland.

Gwyn meanwhile needs no introduction!..he captained the first team back in 2008 having joined in our innaugral Division One season in 2004. A popular member of the club and with supporters alike. He played his rugby in the second row and went on to coach at Bargoed Youth and more recently with Fleur De Lys Youth.

Both will bring a vast amount of experience which will hopefully turn the First team season around beginning with Glamorgan Wanderers this Saturday.

The Club would also like to say a huge thank you to outgoing coaches Gareth Johnston and Matthew J Watkins who worked extremely hard to ensure our Divisional survival last term. We wish them well for their future endeavours in or outside of the rugby community.

Senior training continues tonight at Trelyn park, starting at 7pm. All players are welcome.
