Our first preseason fixture seen the visit of our neighbours Aberbargoed, who made the short visit after a strong win the previous week. Our visitors made it a tough and physical encounter which made good viewing for the crowd.
The deadlock was broken when Owen Swift made a dart through the middle of a ruck, who was nicely supported by Owen Vivian to score the first try of the game and his try was converted by Ryan Nichols, the first forty came to close with the score 7-0 at half-time.
The second forty was also another strong affair, and a strong run from number 8 Ieuan Morris gained the sides second try which proved to be a barnstorming performance from the number 8. As changes were being made returning livewire Ieuan Hale crossed for our third after an elusive break which was again converted by Nichols. Our visitors scored a consolation try just before the end of the game.
There were lots of positives and areas to work on during the week leading up to our next fixture after the boys first run out together.
