ONCE AGAIN ITS WITH SADNESS WE HAVE LOST ANOTHER LIFE MEMBER ALAN (HARVEY) SWIFT

ITS WITH HEARTFELT SADNESS THAT FLEUR DE LYS RFC HAS LOST ANOTHER OF ITS LIFE MEMBERS ALAN SWIFT.  ALAN LOST HIS LONG BATTLE AGAINST CANCER ON 27th MAY 2020.                                 Alan JOINED THE CLUB BACK IN 1976 AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CAREER IN FOOTBALL. THAT SEASON HE PLAYED 17 GAMES IN THE BACK ROW FOR THE CLUBS ATHLETIC XV OFTEN BREAKING INTO THE FIRST TEAM. UNFORTUNATELY MID SEASON ALAN SUFFERD A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT ON THE FIELD WHICH ENDED WHAT WAS GOING TO BE A PROMISING RUGBY CAREER.  THIS DIDNT DETER ALAN, AND WHEN HE RECOVERED FROM HIS ACCIDENT HE KEPT IN TOUCH WITH THE PLAYERS BY RUNNING THE LINE FOR WHATEVER TEAM WAS PLAYING FOR THE FLOWER ON THE DAY.   ALAN MAINTAINED HIS LOVE FOR THE FLOWER BY WATCHING THE BOYS EVERY SATURDAY AND THEN AFTER THE GAME HE WAS ALWAYS IN THE BAR TO HAVE A CHAT ABOUT THE DAYS EVENTS.   ALAN WAS REWARDED FOR HIS EFFORTS WITHIN THE CLUB WHEN HE WAS AWARDED LIFE MEMBERSHIP IN 2008 AND CONTINUED TO SUPPORT T THE CLUB RIGHT UP TO THIS SEASON.    ALAN WILL BE SORELY MISSED BY EVERYONE WITHIN THE CLUB AND THE EXTENDED RUGBY CIRCLE WHERE HE WAS HIGHLY THOUGHT OF.                    RIP ALAN.
